Rose Quartz, in general, refers to pink varieties of mineral Quartz. It can usually be found as anhedral crystals near hydrothermal veins. The pink color of rose quartz is due to the presence of inclusions known as “dumortierite”. The abundance of dumortierite is great enough (in this crystal) to turn rose quartz from transparent to translucent.

By contrast, rose quartz that does not appear translucent comes from pegmatite, a variety of granite. The Rose Quartz found in pegmatite as euhedral crystals is rare. Because of its rarely, the transparent variety of rose quartz can be called “pink quartz”; however, pink quartz may be found at locations across the globe and around the world.
